Crochet Pig Phone Pouch Pattern with a Daisy Flower

· admin

Crochet pig phone pouch with a small white daisy

This crochet pig phone pouch pattern pairs a textured bag with a rounded pink face, folded ears and a little daisy. The pig’s cheeks are shaped by two groups of increases within one round. Separate arms hold the flower stem, while the small feet hang from the lower front of the pouch.

Materials and Finished Size

  • Sport-weight yarn such as YarnArt Jeans: beige for the pouch, pale pink for the pig, stronger pink for the snout, yellow for the flower center, cream for petals and green for the stem. The source gives colors but no measured total yardage.
  • 2.3 mm crochet hook; tapestry needle, scissors, stitch marker, pins and polyester fiberfill for the stuffed details.
  • Two 15 mm buttons for the strap attachment; a sew-on magnetic snap for the flap, visible in the source assembly photographs.
  • Two 6 mm safety eyes for the character, or embroidered eyes instead.
  • Optional fabric glue for positioning details, as used in the source. Sewing the pieces down gives an additional mechanical attachment.

Reference size: approximately 17 × 10 cm (6.7 × 3.9 in), with a 120 cm (47 in) strap. These are sample measurements, not a promise of fit. Measure your phone with its case on and test the usable opening before adding the character. The dense shaping and sewn details suit a crocheter comfortable with amigurumi and small parts.

Stitches and Pattern Notes

US terms: ch = chain; sc = single crochet; inc = 2 sc in one stitch; dec = sc2tog; sl st = slip stitch; hdc = half double crochet; dc = double crochet; st(s) = stitch(es); MR = magic ring. Parentheses followed by a repeat number mean repeat that group. Numbers in the Total column are the completed stitches, except where chain spaces are explicitly included. Work the small animal pieces in continuous rounds unless a row or join is specified.

The designer uses yarn-under single crochet, which makes an X-shaped stitch. Use the same stitch style consistently if you want fabric close to the reference. A yarn-over single crochet sample can be a different size. Keep a marker in the first stitch and move it after each completed round. Turning chains added to flat rows are for height and do not count as stitches.

Step 1: Crochet the Phone Pouch

With the pouch color, ch 24. Work along both sides of this chain to create the oval bottom; do not join the chain into a ring.

1From the second ch: 22 sc, 3 sc in the last ch; along the other side, 21 sc, inc.48
2Inc, 21 sc, inc in each of the next 3 sts, 21 sc, inc twice.54
3Inc, 24 sc, inc in each of the next 3 sts, 24 sc, inc twice.60
4Sc around.60
5Repeat (ch 1, skip 1 st, sc in the next st) 30 times.30 sc + 30 ch-1 spaces
6Repeat (sc in the ch-1 space, sc in the next sc) 30 times.60
7–48Repeat Round 5 on odd-numbered rounds and Round 6 on even-numbered rounds; finish after Round 48.60 positions

Fasten off and weave in the end. Check that the phone slides in without forcing the side walls apart. Changing the foundation width also changes the oval increases and the placement of the decoration, so make and measure the pouch before committing to the small character pieces.

Step 2: Add the Flap and Strap

Mark fourteen centered stitches on the back at body Round 46. Rejoin yarn along those marked stitches and work 14 sc for the first flap row. Ch 1 and turn. Work twelve more rows of 14 sc, turning after each row, so the flap has thirteen rows. Fasten off and finish the ends. The source photographs show this flap folding over the opening.

For the strap, ch 3. Sc in the second ch and in the last ch for 2 sc. Ch 1, turn, then keep working two sc per row until the strip measures approximately 120 cm, or your chosen wearing length. Leave sewing tails. The reference uses a short folded loop at each strap end with the 15 mm side buttons; alternatively sew the ends securely to the two pouch sides. Check the length with the phone inside, because the fabric can stretch under its weight.

Fit the two halves of the magnetic snap to the flap and corresponding pouch front while they are aligned. Reinforce the attachment through several stitches, and keep the hardware out of the phone opening. The snap is visible in the source photographs even though its written materials list does not name it separately.

Step 3: Crochet the Pink Pig Head

Use pale pink throughout the head. Keep the start-of-round marker in place so the two cheek-increase groups remain symmetrical.

Place the eyes between head Rounds 11 and 12 with six stitches between them. Install backed eyes before the opening becomes too small; embroider them later if that is your preferred finish. Add fiberfill after Round 20, top up before the last decrease, then close the remaining opening and hide the end.

Folded Ears — Make Two

Do not stuff. Flatten and fold the opening of each ear, then sew them over head Rounds 5–11. Place both ears before fixing either one permanently.

Snout and Face

With the stronger pink, work 6 sc in MR, then increase in every stitch for twelve. Fasten off, attach the small circle to the center of the face, and embroider the nostrils. Sew the curved mouth across head Rounds 14–15 with the darker pink/red accent. Use the photograph to align the snout below and between the eyes.

Step 5: Crochet the Daisy and Stem

Yellow Flower Center

Change to cream for the petals; the nine stitches provide nine attachment points.

For each petal, ch 4 and work 3 sc back down the chain, beginning in its second chain. Sl st into the next stitch of the yellow center. Repeat for all nine center stitches, giving nine slim petals. Fasten off and weave in the end. With green, ch 13 and work 12 sl st from the second chain to make the stem. Leave tails to attach the two pieces.

Step 6: Assemble the Pig Phone Pouch

  1. Attach both legs at pouch Round 4 and both arms at Rounds 13–15.
  2. Position the green stem between the arms and fasten it to the pouch front.
  3. Attach the daisy at the upper end of the stem, keeping its petals clear of the flap.
  4. Pin the head above the arms and flower, then secure it. Finish the ends, test the snap and check that the phone still fits.

When sewing an ornament to a pouch, slide a piece of card inside so the needle cannot accidentally catch the opposite wall. Remove the card when the piece is secure. Place the head and flower together before sewing: their relative positions affect how much of the stem remains visible.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many daisy petals are there?

Nine. Round 2 of the center has nine stitches, and one chain-and-single-crochet petal attaches at each stitch.

Do the ears need filling?

No. The ears stay unstuffed and are folded at their open edges. Filling them changes their soft folded look.

Can I change the flower color?

Yes. Keep the same stitches and use a contrasting center and petal color so the small flower remains visible against the pouch.
